The mission of 19th century criminality is to provide its readers with interesting and accurate information about the operating of crime in a century that witnessed a great rise of interest for everything crime related.

The vision of 19th century criminality is a future where students from all around the world are allowed free access to educational material on a large number of subjects and provide an environment where our readers can exchange their own views, inerpretations and knowledge together.

Manifesto

What happened in nineteenth-century England? A Queen was crowned, the first Industrial Revolution in all Europe was flourishing, cities emerged, values were defined, the country was getting richer and richer, elevating to an empire on which the sun never sets.
The Victorian era also saw its gap between the rich and the poor deepen drastically, and a new class was created: the “criminal” class. While public executions were highly popular among the population in the first half of the 19th century, it is in this same century, in 1868, that these places of entertainment were abolished.
On this revue will be discussed the way these events were represented, and how the interest gradually came to an end.
